Adhesive from tape cross-linked with the paper making it brittle, sticky and broken, remove adhesive to prepare to be re-sewn back into book
Treatment:
Tape carrier was removed and residue cleared with cellulose powder and tetrahydrafuran.
Pages were repaired and guarded with Japanese tissue paper
